OUR HISTORY
The Island Challenge started in the year 1997-1998 with two teams, Port Alberni and Victoria, led by Ted McMaster and Maryann McConnell. The original venues that hosted this event were Alberni Valley Billiards Club & Cue Ball. By its third year, the event had grown to include seven teams, each with ten players and a requirement of at least three women per team. By this time we had James Street Billiards (Nanaimo) and Ironwood Billiards (Campbell River) added to the venues and several other island teams joined the tournament.

MISSION
The Island Challenge was created to bring a big, inclusive tournament to the island. Maryann McConnell Hopes that the legacy continues for another 100 years and the community continues to grow.
